Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team on a long term contract basis in Pekin, IL. The successful candidate will assist the staff pharmacist in various duties related to the ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing of medications, both prescription and non-prescription, while adhering to budgetary guidelines.

Responsibilities:

– Assist the staff pharmacist with ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing medications.
– Demonstrate knowledge of budgetary guidelines and adhere to BOP Formulary constraints.
– Maintain pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion, consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines.
– Assist the pharmacist in maintaining up-to-date stock of medications, checking for outdates per policy, in various locations including the main pharmacy, satellite camp, crash carts, emergency bags, and Automated Dispensing Systems.
– Assist the Pharmacist with maintaining stock of forms and updating Pill Line/Restricted Medication cards for inmates, as well as filing Medication Administration Records into the Medical Record.
– Prepare unit dose or pre-packaged medications under the supervision of the Pharmacist.
– Complete and maintain competency by successfully completing the Pharmacy Competency 
– Re-stock and maintain adequate supplies for the “Night Stock” cabinet and perform audits of the “Night Stock” or Automated Dispensing System.
– Possess and maintain technical computer skills related to pharmacy operations.
– Participate in Improving Organizational Performance Data and Quality Assurance Activities as directed by the Pharmacist or Health Services Administrator (HSA).
– Perform minor clerical duties

Qualifications:

– Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
– Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and hold current state licensure in good standing.
– Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and related software.
– Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
– Familiarity with budgetary guidelines and formulary constraints is preferred.

Location: This position is based in Pekin, IL, and requires on-site presence.
