Position Overview:
The Pittsburgh VA Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team on a contractual basis. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to our veterans, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), monitoring vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
– Patient Care: Assist patients with ADLs including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility support.
– Vital Signs Monitoring: Accurately measure and record patients’ vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
– Patient Sitting: Provide companionship and monitor patient safety during assigned shifts.
– Hygiene Assistance: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards for patients, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
– Feeding Support: Assist patients with feeding as needed and monitor food intake, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.
– Documentation: Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for accurate charting of patient care and observations.
– Compliance: Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and information security.
– Emergency Response: Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and respond promptly to emergency situations.
– Background Check: Successfully pass a comprehensive background check prior to employment.
Qualifications:
– Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of Pennsylvania.
– Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with veterans or in a VA Medical Center.
– Proficiency in EMR systems for patient charting.
– Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards.
– Current BLS certification.
– Ability to pass a thorough background check.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
– Compassionate and patient-focused attitude with a strong commitment to quality care.
Working Conditions:
– Contractual position with flexible scheduling options.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
– Physical stamina to assist patients and perform tasks requiring movement and lifting.
– Various shift options (days, evenings, and nights), ability to work double shifts.
– 40 hours per week, plus the opportunity for overtime.
