Medical Laboratory Technician – New York VA Medical Center

*Must be ASCP or AMT Certified*

The VA Medical Center in Manhattan, NY is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician with expertise in Microbiology to join our team on a federal contract basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and procedures to support the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires an individual who is ASCP/AMT certified, possesses at least one year of experience in microbiology, and is familiar with HIPAA compliance and EMR charting.

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician – Microbiology (Contract)
Location: VA Medical Center, Manhattan, NY
Employment Type: Full-time, Contract (40 hours per week, daytime schedule)

Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct microbiological tests and procedures accurately and efficiently.
– Analyze and interpret laboratory results to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment.
– Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.
– Record and maintain accurate patient and test data using EMR systems.
– Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling patient information.
– Collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.
– Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs.

Qualifications:
– ASCP or AMT certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
– Minimum of 1 year of experience in microbiology laboratory work.
– Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
– Proficiency in EMR charting and data management.
– Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and regulations.
– US Citizen
